Dr. Earl Teller has over forty-five years of experience working in the mental health field in various capacities. He was previously employed as a clinical psychologist in two large state mental health institutions in New York. He was a senior psychologist supervisor for five years from 1977-1982 in two facilities within the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. From 1982-1994, he held clinical and administrative positions at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. He also worked with outpatient mental health facilities in both New York and Florida. He has been a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Florida since 2006 and currently operates a private practice in the Tampa Bay, Florida area.
From 1988 through 1994, he served as the forensic coordinator for all patients receiving treatment services at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center. Nearly all those cases involved the criminal courts. From 1996 through September 2000, he provided a full range of psychological services that included psychological testing, mental status, and competency evaluations primarily for children and juveniles with the Schenectady County Child Guidance Center, Inc. in Schenectady, New York. He worked collaboratively with the Schenectady County Probation Department and had an office in their building. He provided expert witness and court testimony, conducted psychological testing, mental status evaluations and written psychological reports.
In addition to his role as administrative and clinical director, he provided a broad range of psychological services. He hired clinical professional staff to create a multidisciplinary treatment facility. They received clients from the Schenectady County, NY criminal and civil courts, Office of Children and Family Services, and the Schenectady County Probation Department. In addition to conducting mental status and competency psychological evaluations, he provided attorney consultations and expert witness court testimony.
He conducted mental competency and other mental health assessments, psychological testing, wrote psychological reports and provided expert witness testimony. He currently provides a full range of psychological services in his private practice. He has conducted psychological evaluations for a variety of clients that have included independent medical evaluations with military veterans, personal injury and criminal defense cases. His private practice is mainly focused on civil and criminal cases.
